During the construction and reconstruction of highways and railways, power lines (including overhead transmission lines), airport runways, and other industrial and civil infrastructure in proximity to existing main gas pipelines, conflicts arise with violations of minimum permissible clearance distances from pipelines and valve stations to buildings and structures.
When such issues arise, relocation (re-routing) of main gas pipelines and relocation of valve stations is required in order to comply with standard safety clearances to structures.
When roads or overhead power lines under construction intersect main gas pipelines, pipeline reconstruction is also required to upgrade pipeline safety category and ensure standard burial depth at crossings.
